The 100th Anniversary of The RMS Titanic

The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her...

The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage. One of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, she was built between 1909–11 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. She carried 2,223 people.

And there ends the history lesson. Or does it?

A lesson naturally indicates that something of value was learned. But now today, the 100th Anniversary of Titanic sinking, a 100 years after 1,514 innocent men, women, and children died needlessly; have we in society actually learned anything from that tragic moment in our past?

When many people think about Titanic today, they recall a romantic love story and the tragic loss of two lovers, lost and separated at sea.

While I have no doubt there may have indeed been many lovers aboard The Titanic when the ship hit that fateful iceberg. I highly imagine the majority of their descendants, would call the tragic loss of their friends and family members anything, but romantic.

And yet that very story has sold several movie editions, books, comics, audio records, and a slew of ready to order merchandise. And through this, some how the profiteering of Titanic continues.

The fault of Titanic was that The White Star Line company and various other third parties, sought to maximize profits, by cutting corners and sometimes using cheaper products in order to maximize their savings. They also took steps to avoid adding extra lifeboats and other safety concerns.

A practice in which we continue to utilize in modern-day business even today. And even today, we still hear news stories and read consumer reports about needless injuries and even deaths, all in the name of the mighty dollar and the quest to maximize profits. How many innocent men, women, and children have needlessly suffered or even died in the last 100 years to obtain this goal?

The RMS Titanic also brought awareness of the social issues of its time. In 1912 first, second, and third class was not simply a ticket aboard a ship, but throughout America at the time, everyone was not socially equal in society. We very much had a class structure where the super rich were not just wealthy, but viewed as respected and righteous. A time when your bank account balance and your wealthy determined if you were worth opportunity, given fair justice, or even had a voice in political matters.

The tragedy of the sinking of Titanic placed in prospective that no matter your wealth, you too can suffer in the end. Or at least that is how some historians prefer to quote history. Now today, 2012, 100 years after the fact, how much has really changed?

Wealth seems to still guarantee you opportunity, justice, and a strong political voice. And the lack of wealth seems to almost guarantee the absence of equal opportunity, justice, and no political voice.

And of course the profiteering of our society continues tonight, as a group of wealthy inverters help set sail to hover over with a full crew, over the grave of Titanic. The resting place and grave of 1,514 innocent men, women, and child tonight will be used as a tourist attraction, to which other mildly wealthy people have purchased a ticket to celebrate their death.

To put it into a more modern-day perspective, in such away so that perhaps you can connect better with the understanding of my meaning. Imagine for a moment if a group of wealthy inverters decided to sell tickets, so that a mildly wealthy group could hover over and celebrate the death of the nearly 3,000 innocent men, women, and children who died in The Twin Towers on September 11th, 2001 in New York city.

Have we as a people truly learned anything in the last 100 years?

If anything, tonight we should all reflect on how much further we need to push ourselves as a society to improve upon ourselves. Because we can do so much better if we only try. And that will only happen when you, the reader, stops waiting for the next man or women next to you. Such change starts with us all, but also from the individual, you.

Every day I think I should be working out more. I'm not narcissistic and really don't get sex all that often from my wife so it's certainly not for any other reason other than maybe I should take better care of myself.

Then, yesterday, I'm listening to one of my favorite podcasts and the guy says, "You know, it's easier to just eat healthier than it is to go kill your joints on a treadmill for an hour each day. However, I hate eating healthy and would rather go burn off those shitty calories on a run or by lifting weights.

Sadly, I don't belong to a gym anymore and really don't have the motivation to do P90X at the moment. Instead I run a couple miles every so often.

That brings up another problem though, it's damn cold here and I don't like running in the cold.

I guess I'm going to have to get used to eating healthier and switch to lite beer.

:(

I'm finding that as I approach 40 my nose hairs are getting more and more annoying. They are poking their little pointed heads out and tickling my nostrils making me sneeze. I find reaching in there and grabbing a few at a time and yanking them brings tearful joy.

I'm a little worried that about one out of every 8 or so is silver in color. Makes me wonder if I had hair on my head if it would too be graying.

I hate it when you go to pull a nose hair and your finger nail cuts it during the yank., then you only have half a hair but your eyes water just as if you pulled the whole thing.

I've pulled six nose hairs during this entry.

I knew that I should have just eaten the leftovers; cardboard like pork chops and boxed mashed potatoes and canned green beans that I had suffered through last night. Instead I went to Wendy's and got a #1. My blood sugar is spiking with every bite and I can feel my endorphins rising. It's such a satisfying feeling that the lingering headache from a few to many cheap beers last night is starting to dwindle. I may still go take some Advil out of the medicine cabinet to just to make go entirely away.

The bad thing about my lunch is that I will now have to run more so I don't get fat. Future Tom is going to be pissed that I went out to eat instead of just eating the crap I brought.

Sometimes I think I overuse the jump smilie. I mean well but I find it to be a lazy way of expressing myself. Should I write out the actual phrase to express my emotions? Here is an example, someone posts something that is funny. I may even grin while sitting in my chair at work. Instead of writing, "Hey, that's funny and made me smile", I'll just type in : jump : and move ahead with my day.

Maybe the recipient of my smilie would rather see me write it out to let them know they've reached out and made someone's day just a little brighter.

My Unified Theory on Homosexuality and the downfall of the modern family

Let me state this from the start, this is based off of assumptions I feel qualified to make as a well above-average intelligent man, a creative man,...

Let me state this from the start, this is based off of assumptions I feel qualified to make as a well above-average intelligent man, a creative man, and natural born heterosexual male. Too often in society one group of people will say “You can’t imagine what it’s like to be _____” be it Gay, black, muslim, jew, short, tall, fat, thin, ugly, hot, illegal alien, whatever. This basically is not true. As humans we were blessed with intelligence and imagination and while people have varying amounts of both I believe a lot, if not most, have enough to imagine what life is like for these people IF they have enough information and are really willing to try.

That said as a natural born heterosexual I know without question I could never have a homosexual relationship. My body would no more allow it than allow me to stand in fire. I was programmed to like women since as long as I can remember. I was having dreams about intercourse with women before I knew what sex was- but my brain knew what hole I was supposed to put my “round peg” into.

Based on what I know above I can safely say that if a man is having a gay relationship with another man he must be wired very different in the brain than I am. Considering all the mutations and problems found in nature I fully believe some men are born with as strong as an attraction I have for women, but for men. If this is the case then I know there is no way they could ever “choose” to not be gay anymore than I could choose to be gay.

If well enough was left alone than gays would be gay, grow old, and die, and their gay genes would mostly die with them. But things were not left well enough. The Church, mostly the catholic church but others as well, had to get involved. Through threats of violence and overwhelming guilt and threats of eternal damnation and shame they tried to force natural born homosexuals to become practicing heterosexuals. And for an amazing amount of people it worked, at least long enough for them to take wives and procreate. They may have dabbled on the side, out of sight, with their innate desires with other like minded gay men, but the damage was done. The Church in an attempt to stop what they found so offensive, and with no understanding of genetics at the time basically guaranteed the spread of homosexuality rather than its demise.

What happens when gays take wives and have kids? They pass on their gay genes. Now I know that when a gay man's "mate" gives birth to a son that son is not automatically gay- but we know some of that fathers genetics have been passed down. Over time the “gay” and “not-gay” barrier which was once more black-and-white began to break down. Over the generations gay genes got watered down into the general population. It’s now impossible to tell when two people will have a gay off-spring because we don’t really know who is carrying what genes.

Even today though religious values and pressure from society still keep vast numbers of natural born homosexuals in the closet. These men are forced to marry because it’s what is expected of them. They are forced to have kids because it is what is expected of married couples. But their marriages are shams. Their true desires are not met by their wives. Some find outlets for their gay desires in secret outside of marriage. Others don’t… in either case the marriage suffers. The wife comes to be resented. The marriage breaks down, sometimes in physical violence. The gay husband drinks, does drugs, inevitably suffers from depression. His career suffers, sometimes he is fired. Money gets tight. He is forced into crime- after all, what is the downside? He will either get money or go to jail. Have you ever wondered how stupid so many criminals seem to be? I contend they wanted to get caught. What happens when you throw a gay man in prison? He’s around other men all the time! Most probably gay men themselves. This is why some people consider “prison gay” to be acceptable because it happens so often in prison. But it’s not acceptable to natural born heterosexuals- even in prison we would never consider gay sex. But to natural born homosexuals they are truly living their fantasies that have been repressed for years.

Do all closet homosexuals go to prison? No- of course not… But let's think of places were natural born homosexuals, but practicing heterosexuals would gather. Places like gyms and locker-rooms. Law enforcement. Places like the military. And yes, even the priesthood. Anywhere they hope they might be in close contact with other men day in and day out. Think about it- as a natural born heterosexual if someone told me I could go to an island of all women, or had free access to a woman’s locker-room or such- we’d think we hit the lottery. As natural born heterosexuals that’s out biggest desire and fantasy come true. Well for gay men any of these scenarios are easily achieved in life, and so that is why they gather in these professions and locations.

So this is why the church, forcing homosexuality into the closet, is responsible thousands of years later for the general failure of the modern family and a burden on society as a whole. It can all be traced back to those early homosexuals forced to take wives and breed.
