There's real chemistry to the perfect cc cookie..

For softer go with less flour.

Also for the really awesomeness... Make them bigger.. Most homemade cookies are the typical smaller size of a pop can or so.. Notice all the "famous" gourmet cookies you can get at cookie bakeries for $$$ are much bigger? There's a really good reason for this.. It makes them have multiple textures through out.. Firmer around the edge and soft in the middle.. Gives them an overall more satisfying eating experience.

Lastly, slightly under bake them... Keeps them softer and better
