Default 1960 Welta...

I'm in process of moving my studio and I found my father's old camera from when he was in the Navy. It's an old Welta and I was wondering if there are any tips to cleaning it up a little (it's in pretty good condition). Or is this best left to a professional?

I would send it to a proffesional to clean.

I wish I had my fathers camera gear from when he was in photography. But he had this son that got into his gear when he was little and trashed some of it.

your best bet is to contact a few of the camera stores in your area for information. Alot of them have instant access to resources and help you find a restorative service. You do not want any random person to clean it, they might not have the know how of an older make and model. Good luck, what a treat.

Thanks guys. I'm now not sure if I want to mess with it. After talking to Pops the other day, I found out it's the camera he used to take pictures of Russian subs during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I'd hate for it to be broken or worse, lost. I may just put it up with all the old woodworking tools from my grandfather and head to the pawn shop for an old camera.
